Even more casualties of the upcoming Star Wars & Toy Story Lands have been announced for Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This time one of the park’s original icons is going to be removed (and I’m not happy about that one!). Hit the jump for details on the closing attractions at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The biggest closure for me is the removal of the Earffel Tower. This is the water tower with Mickey years in the background of the image above. This was originally the park’s icon and has since been a bit abandoned in my opinion. You used to get a good view of the tower on the the Studio Backlot Tour, but since that is closed you can only see the tower in the distance behind some trees. I really wish Disney wouldn’t remove the tower, but rather relocate to somewhere more prominent and bring it back as the park’s icon. Right now there isn’t really an official icon for DHS. The park uses both the Chinese Theater and the Tower of Terror as its icons. These are fine, but I feel the Earffel Tower better fits the theming of the park.
The other attractions closing are:
- Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show
- Honey I Shrunk The Kids Adventure Playground
- Monster Inc. meet & greet
- Writer’s Shop
- Watto’s Grotto
- Studio Catering Co.
All these attractions are scheduled to close on April 2nd, 2016. So, if you are in Disney World stop by for one last viewing of the Stunt show or wave goodbye to my favorite DHS park icon.
