So you’ve checked into your hotel and are about to head off to a fun filled day at the parks. What do you bring with you? Most people aren’t prepared for a day at the parks and end up buying necessities at the various stores in each park. This can be expensive and it really takes time away from other, more fun, activities. Let’s go over what’s typically in my day bag when visiting Walt Disney World and what you should bring along.
Disney has updated the My Disney Experience website to allow guests to opt out of receiving a new Magic Band every time they make a new reservation to stay at a Walt Disney World resort. This has been a big complaint for those who make frequent trips to the parks such as DVC members. Hit the jump to find out more about the changes.
Disney’s biggest event, the D23 Expo is starting soon! The expo is a huge draw for Disney fans. Star Wars stole the show last year and this year big park news is expected to be announced. We’ll be covering the expo here, so make sure to stop by August 14-16 for the latest news about the parks. Hit the jump for more about what’s expected to be announced.
Construction for the highly anticipated “Pandora: The Land of Avatar” or Avatar Land in Disney’s Animal Kingdom can now been seen from within the park. Avatar Land is expected to house several attractions, restaurants and retail shops. Disney is working closely with James Cameron on the development of Avatar Land. Pandora: The Land of Avatar is expected to open in early 2017.
The Disney dining plan is rumored to be slightly enhanced by reducing restrictions around snacks & substitutions. This rumor seems to be making the rounds among the Disney news sites lately, but I haven’t seen anything official from Disney yet. The changes are rumored to already be in effect, so if you’re at the parks now and have the dining plan let us know your experiences! Read about the changes after the jump.
Ticket prices recently went up at the Disney parks and now it looks like there’s a possibility that they may rise even higher on certain days of the year. Hit the jump for more details on the possible surge pricing at Disney parks.
It looks like the villains will have some new company on stage during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party this year. Disney has announced that a new show will replace the long running Villains Mix and Mingle nighttime show in front of Cinderella’s Castle during MNSSHP. Read more about what’s coming to the party after the jump.
The 24 hour Disney event kicked off at both the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort in California bright and early at 6:00 AM on May 22nd. The 24 hour day was marked with unique events and even a live stream for those who couldn’t make it to the parks. I’ve never been to one of these 24 hour events, but it’s on my bucket list and now that I have this blog I might be persuaded to go sooner rather than later!
Coronado Springs is a great resort which felt like home in many ways. Coronado Springs is located in the “Animal Kingdom Resort Area”, however I think it’s closer to Hollywood Studios. It is a moderate level resort with a Latin and Mexican theme. The Three Caballeros above sums up the theming perfectly There are plenty of amenities for guests of all ages and the rooms are surprisingly large and comfortable. There are multiple pools around the property, with some being much better than others. Check out the full review of Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort after the jump.
Star Wars fans might want to clear a weekend and head to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Starting this weekend through June 14th, Hollywood Studios will play host to Star Wars characters, events & character dining. This year Disney is creating a “Rebel Lounge: A Star Wars Lounge Experience”. This weekend will see appearances by James Arnold Taylor, Ian McDiarmid, Amy Allen, Tiya Sircar & Ashley Eckstein.
Star Wars weekends rank among one of the most attended Disney events for the year, so keep that in mind when trying to make a plan of attack for your day at the park. The wait times at Star Tours will most likely sky rocket during the weekends. This is certainly a must attend event for Star Wars fans even with the larger crowds. There is exclusive merchandise, food options & of course the Star Wars characters walking around the park.
